Why? I thought Rubio was solid in the Town Hall last night, and clearly

understands the issues better than many pols. Despite some of the ridiculous efforts to out shout him, if you could listen he gave intelligent, thoughtful responses. He said he was for increasing the age of all guns to 21, banning bump stocks, against teachers being allowed to carry, in favor of "red flag" laws iirc, and given what he's learned recently, seriously reconsidering his prior stances against limiting magazine capacity. Meanwhile he tried to explain some of the problems with the proposed assault weapons ban, said an actually meaningful banning of all semi-automatics is a valid position (even though not his) while exposing the Dems for being lightweights on the topic when they refused to say they would support that.

Nelson was a pathetic one trick my way or nothing pony that wasn't interested in understanding the topic and getting to real solutions, as he was in taking shots at his likely opponent/successor Rick Scott and never going deeper than the silly "we have to ban assault weapons". I would've been embarrassed if I was a Nelson supporter. The Congressman wasn't bad, but he was pretty shallow party line only. The Sheriff came off as a bit of a boob that wanted only to deflect valid criticism IMO.

As an aside, I think Jake Tapper did a very fair and reasonable job and reminded me that he's still capable of being well above most at CNN.
